Perspective

The terms “macro” and “micro” are comparative tools, as in they’re best used when contrasting two separate entities. I work in neuroscience, my brother helps construct skyscrapers in Manhattan, micro vs. macro, at least in the physical sense. But the terms can be used to describe events, for example, a major life event could have a macro effect (change the course of life), whether it’s a surprise or even expected. The last month has brought a lot of contemplation, micro contemplation daily, comprising a macro revelation in the long term.

There comes a time in life where a switch flicks in your head, creating a positively reinforced, motivation reaction. The individual decides then and there that “I need to do this … It’s all I got”. This happened to me a couple days ago. You see, I’m convinced that I’ve reached the point where family and friends are a phenomenal support structure. But at the end of it, “support” only works for existing entities, it’s not much of a resourceful contribution for genuine construction. If I need to get anything done at this point and for the rest of my life, it’s on me. As a child and a young adult, you have a protective shroud, one of the perks of inexperience. All we can do is move forward, with ourselves leading the charge. It’s an ironic charge of course, and a shocking change in perspective.
