Istanbul is Awesome

Hey Guys! Hope all is well, just writing this post from a beautiful terrace restaurant on top of my hotel, about 7 stories up in the center of Istanbul πŸ˜› I actually had written a post earlier during lecture, but it managed to delete itself. I guess that’s Karma for me not focusing during lecture. So, what have I been up to lately. Well for one I went on a city tour a couple of days ago and saw the central palace of Istanbul, the Blue Mosque, and the Hagia Sophia. All of which were absolutely stunning, it’s remarkable that these structures were made by hand.

Here is a picture of me in front of the Hagia Sophia:

The blue mosque is still being used for religious practices, so I had to wear a blue drape over my legs because my shorts were too short. I have a picture of it, but my friends in it and I don’t want to share names/images of my colleagues.

Hmm… So funny stories. Well for one, I went to a bar with one of my friends who had a little too much to drink. As we were walking back to the hotel, I kid you not, he wraps his arms around a streetlight pole and says “No. We are staying outside for 4 more hours and enjoying this beautiful weather”. Mind you, its currently 2:45AM in Istanbul, pitch black, dead quiet, and he’s yelling this on the top of his longs. You had to be there, it was absolutely hysterical.

As part of the course, I have to perform field research and write a paper on a topic of my choosing. So I’ve decided I will be studying the healthcare industries in Berlin and Istanbul and how they compare to the states. My first couple of observations in Istanbul were kind of stunning to me. For one, there is a huge disparity between state institutions and private institutions as far as the quality of care given, It’s shocking how poor the state facilities look are. I don’t see any reason someone wouldn’t go to a private hospital which is comparable to the hospitals in the state, the facilities are better.

I would write more, but I’m lazy. Excited to fly out for Berlin!

Today’s song is Numa Numa Nei, major throwback.
