How come this city sucks? I get all dressed up for work in a polo and jeans, prepared to do some research. Walk outside… downpour, rain everywhere, wet, gloomy, cloudy. It sucked. So thankful I’m going down to Delaware for Firefly this week. Oh, AND My boss decided it was a good idea to make a to do list for me before I leave. He emailed me it… “I’m going to need you to do this, that, and this… also make sure all this and that is working before you leave”….”Oh I forgot to tell you, I can’t pay you for overtime”.

Moving on, every morning I like to get a cup of coffee and a muffin from Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. Coffee isn’t so good and neither is the muffin. But you know what is good, the people and their personalities. Everyone is just so happy, its awesome to see. This hospital is full of recovering drug addicts, people that were suicidal and depressed, etc. Upon initial glimpse, you wouldn’t even tell. They do an outstanding job at that institution and that’s what I love to see. Medicine improving the quality of life, not just the quantity of life. If you haven’t read “Being Mortal”, by Atul Gawande I urge you too (by “you”, I mean the random Chinese person that will stumble upon this site in attempts to jack my credit card info… because I doubt anyone actually reads this). He talks about the revolution in elderly care, how a lot of Senior Citizen Institutions are making the move to improve the quality of life for the elderly, and not just keep them alive on a defibrillator for months at a time. It’s pretty cool…
